New Beginnings in Melbourne

The first feeling of spring is in the air today.

I'm sitting above the city on a Sunday afternoon, on the top floor of South Yarra. I'm on a comfy couch, with a guitar strumming and watermelon rinds next to me, a door wide-opened at my bare feet, and sunbeams and a breeze gently passing through.

I think this might be the first moment I've had time to contemplate the whirlwind the last two months have been. It's still surprising how everything has worked out.

I landed in Melbourne during the peak of winter, with not much but a gut feeling, little savings, and a work holiday visa.

Some perks to winter in July.

In a matter of weeks, I've bought a bike, moved into an apartment by the beach, had my sister join me, and successfully completed my first month of a great job. Weekends have been filled with out-of-town trips, meeting new friends, and exploring the city.

I'm still not quite settled. My sister moved here sooner than expected (fortunately) and it looks like one room is not going to really work... so, the search continues for the right place - but, with my loved ones alongside some great new friendships, both in the workplace and around the city - I know I'm exactly where I need to be.
